Situation
Three separate tank farms were necessary for the southwestern Alaska village–one for the client (AVEC), the local school, and the City of New Stuyahok.

Challenge
Barging materials up the Nushagak River which was very shallow in certain locations created the need for a sophisticated mobilization plan. With no docking facilities, mobilizing materials required the construction of access roads.

Solution
In 2011, STG began construction of the ambitious fuel storage project in New Stuyahok. Each site required extensive trenching for drainage and a containment area to combat potential ground contamination. Our team also constructed the access roads and pads. From planning and piping to fencing and lighting, STG self-performed 100 percent of contracted work. A team with a balance of specialty and transferrable skills enables us to send fewer crew members to a job site, removing the need for subcontractors.
