STG has constructed over 40 bulk fuel systems throughout Northern and Western Alaska for the Alaska Energy Authority and Alaska Village Electric Cooperative. The fuel storage tanks have ranged in size from 1,000 gallons to 100,000 gallons. The tanks have included pre-fabricated horizontal, diked and double-wall. STG generally fabricates the larger vertical tanks in the field. These vertical tanks include UL listed tanks up to 50,000 gallons. Tanks have been installed on a variety of foundations, such as gravel pad, concrete, and driven pile.
“STG had the most competitive bid of those reviewed to construct the Ruby bulk fuel project in the interior of Alaska. Because of the timing of barges to the project site, it was expected that the contractor would be pressed to have new tanks installed prior to the last fuel barge delivery of the season. STG receive tanks on-site in July and was able to install them in time for the community’s winter fuel supply which was delivered in September. Along with working efficiently to install the tanks, STG quickly responded when the dispenser stopped working at more than 40 below temperatures to get the situation fixed so that the community had fuel. I would not hesitate to use STG on one of my projects in the future.”

STG’s work for the Alaska Energy Authority in Ruby involved the complete renovation of the Dineega Fuel Company’s bulk fuel storage facility. Throughout the duration of the project, STG supported uninterrupted operation of Dineega’s residential delivery and retail fuel sales operations by establishing temporary storage during construction. The newly redesigned facility, completed in 2009, provides for storage of 30,000 gallons of gasoline and 130,000 gallons of diesel fuel, and features a new retail dispensing facility to serve the entire community.
