Alaska can be an extremely unforgiving place for the unprepared contractor.  What seems to be straight forward work can quickly develop new complexities when implementing work plans hundreds of miles from traditional support networks and critical supplies in Alaska’s unique environmental conditions.  STG has over two decades of experience managing these job realities which results in reduced risk as well as added value for our clients.

STG’s professional management team and core crew of highly skilled employees is crucial to the company’s logistical and operational success at our remote job sites. Company officers, project managers and assistants all have many years of experience planning and implementing remote projects. They understand the many challenges inherent to projects in isolated locations off the Alaskan road system, and are able to pool their collective expertise to repeatedly complete projects in remote locations efficiently, on time, and with quality craftsmanship.  All field activities are executed through a team-based approach supported by field crews, staging centers located in Bethel and Nome, and Anchorage-based project managers, logistics personnel, and administrators.

The company’s long-term, dedicated field employees are qualified not only in their individual area of expertise, such as welding or equipment operating, but are also extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of work in remote Alaska. They routinely work in conditions that would make some of television’s “tough-guy” reality shows look comfortable. They labor in temperatures of minus 45 F, winds of 50 mph, or driving rain at 35 F. They work on the frozen tundra in the winter and in knee-deep mud during “break-up”. They are adaptable, tough, resilient and innovative – and they take pride in getting the job done, and doing it right.
